Is it really full manual exposure? Only certain shutter speeds are available to certain apertures. I brought it back to the store immediately because of that. It's aperture or shutter priority modes, at best, and considering the exposure latitude of the film, that sucks. Don't know if that's a feature or a bug on my particular camera.
Hey, small question, is the red light feedback regarding miss focus, or underexposure?
"Program" is a weird term, but it's not from nowhere. A LOT of cameras have this so I'm surprised you didn't know, but it's automatic exposure via shutter speed and priority.
Digital cameras offer more features under "Auto", but program is strictly for those two settings. Come from film cameras that introduced Program like the aptly named Canon AE-1 Program
Great video. New subscriber. I will pass on it.
Comparing to the OneStep+ is it better ?
I still think the SX-70 Sonar is the best Polaroid camera. They should focus on making a new version of that camera.
I felt like you bashed the hell out of this camera when you didn’t really know how to use it
Пустили к себе мусульман – расхлебывайте. А лучше деньги на джизью собирайте.
So this version of Polaroid has been around since 2015 and they just cant figure out viewfinders more often than not
Hey Chris,
I'm new on your channel, but I just love your content!
I'm in the process of buying my first Polaroid.
I was actually thinking of buying the Now+ gen 3, but then I saw the Flip.
However, is the viewfinder too difficult and irritating to shoot with, that I should just get the Now+ gen 3?
Im a Polaroid enthusiast and i just want to know two things:
1) is the Polaroid Flip easy to use?
and
2) is this camera worth buying?
Your videos aren’t bad but what is up with these thumbnails my dude, it’s like you’re trying to appeal to 7 year old kids, but i don’t think there’s that many little kids watching videos on old analog cameras
It’s slightly strange
I'm glad you're not overhyping this camera like the other reviewers. It has so many flaws. The light meter in the manual mode is like "maybe it's correct, take a shot and see", at least with the latest firmware. I just went through my first pack, and I've been disappointed by it to say the least. I shouldn't have to go through multiple packs just to realize how "off" the light meter is in manual mode. Especially if it changes after the next firmware update. And the viewfinder is a small, but annoying issue as well, especially if you want to set the camera for a timed shot.
can the polaroid flip use color lenses like the other ones?
I’m from Canada and I really want to get the camera, but it’s $320 Canadian or $233.60 USD for the starter kit, which is the flip and a pack of film. Also, a pack of film by itself is around $30 CAD or $21.91 USD.
To be fair, the SX-70 is sort of the same way when it comes to seeing through the viewfinder. You need to angle it a certain way.
I’m very interested in the comparison between flip and now❤ because both cameras are modern and it raises a question: should I upgrade from now to flip
Thank you, Chris
Some how YouTube unsubscribed me from your channel so just catching this video now. Nice work! Got one for myself and been enjoying! Time to go catch up on your other vids now.
The results I’ve gotten are much better than yours. I wonder if there is an issue with that specific camera?
Did you use 600 or i‑Type film in your video? Is there any difference between them? I know they’re both ISO 600, but I thought it might be worth asking. I love your channel!
It would be nice if you’d actually compare it to one of the cheaper ones. This is a bunk review not even testing out exposure compensation or different environments. And the photos that missed focus also are composed with a shit ton of grass in the lower 2/3s so I’d assume the camera thinks the ground is the subject.
Sonar autofocus doesn't depend on lighting conditions to focus. If it misses, it's because you are too far or too close, or there are other things in view that are not the subject that are confusing the sensor.
Just got my flip on eBay for a steal! I've shot one pack so far and I'm in love!
As the film is so average compared to original film, is their any point buying this over the 660af ?
Chris can you review the kodak era 4 ms400 camera
I have a Polaroid Now Plus and all my photos look pretty crappy. I used to have a Polaroid camera in the 80s and those photos were top notch – maybe I am just spoiled
Nice overview! I actually like that car shot 12:44
Oh yeah btw. I just noticed this watching the video again at 8:09. You should really really do the Firmware update for the Flip. It re calibrates a view things making the camera apparently way more reliable
I got the Flip recently. I've had very good results outside in sun and shade. Focus is good 9 times out of 10. Exposure inside hasn't been great but I havent messed with the app. Indoor exposure been consistently dark. The viewfinder is the only issue for me, but you get used to it. Overall it's WAY better than my Now+ gen 1. I've had mostly bad photos with my Now+.
They would better fix the colors issue than make dozens of new camera models
The only possible use for program mode would be to get a feel for what settings the camera would use, so you could use that as a point of reference for when you switch to manual mode
Blah blah blah blah u don’t know how to take pics with this camera
I LOVE the Flip! I just started getting into Instant Photography a few months ago, watched videos after videos..Instax Wide Evo and Polaroid Flip are my favs so far. I had the SQ40 but once I saw the Flip coming out, I returned it lol…There is a bit of a learning curve with the Flip, albeit small, there is a learning curve
I actually really like that last truck through the fence picture you took. We’ll have to take the Flip out on a nice day and do some direct comparisons with the Impulse or 660
Thank you so much for this review! I got to shoot the flip in sunny and warm conditions, and I promise you will get better results when in proper conditions! Love your channel
Nice review, Chris! Now, who was it that first pointed out that you can turn the flash off for multiple shots? 😁 Meee 🤣
I don’t think you mentioned the self-timer in this review. My guess is the semi-auto mode lets you choose the focusing lens, does it? Looking forward to your comparison of the Flip to the 660! 😃
I had much better results with the Flip with reclaimed green than the one step plus, also double exposures seemed a bit more consistent … I still think the regular 600/itype film is a bit wonky
