Instant Cameras Are Back! | Polaroid Flip Review

Polaroid

Reviewing the Polaroid Flip instant camera, which combines retro design with a bit of modern flair. Here’s an unboxing and hands-on test with the Polaroid Flip, showing off the features and photo abilities.

If you’re yearning for that classic point and shoot action with instant pics, this’ll certainly scratch that itch. The chonky design can fold up a bit more compact, although it’s still a proper brick like those retro snappers. And the Polaroid Flip takes standard I-Type and 600-Type film, which is rather expensive. Add that onto the £200 asking price, and shooting with this camera isn’t cheap.

Still, the photos coughed out of the Polaroid Flip have that distinctive retro vibe, and can be stuck on walls or in albums. That focus is fast to act and reliable, while you also have EV controls and double exposure. Plus you’ve got app support, to control the Polaroid Flip camera with your phone.

So what do you reckon, tempted by this retro gadget? Let us know below!

  1. I have the impossible I 1 and the 1st gen Polaroid now this camera reminds me of the Polaroid one step my mom had with the flip up flash many memories were made with that camera she gave it to me when I was in highschool I used it until Polaroid went belly up I couldn't get film anymore so I think I'd like this new one

  2. Polaroid Community: I just purchased my first Polaroid camera, the Polaroid Flip. Yeah!!! FYI, I connected my camera with the Polaroid app and noticed that there was a firmware update. The newest Flip update appears to be (version 1.0.5). I did the update and everything seems fine, no issues before, either. The curiosity sent me to the web to find out what the update entailed. No mention anywhere of what was addressed in the newest 1.0.5 release. Does anybody have the information? Thank you.

  3. I wonder how this compares to the Kodak or Polaroid portable printers? I got the Kodak printer for my wife for Christmas and it's pretty cool. Can print 2×3 and 3×3 images in pretty decent quality via Bluetooth or cable from your phone.

  4. i still have the original flips from the 90s, i guess i can start using them again. i just wished their film wasn't so expensive for only 8 shots

  5. My kids will love it because it is right there, shoot photo … On the wall. My wallet won't like that 20 quid for sixteen photos though. Ah well the sprites are happy and it's a big chunky bit of kiit so they feel like they are doing something special

  6. Loads of 660AF cameras around, enough for everyone. Basically the same camera but takes 600 film only and no phone connectivity. But who uses that anyway?

  7. I'd be more tempted to buy an instant photo printer like a Canon Zink and hook it up to my phone. That way I can review the photo before I print it. Photos are only 2"x3" though, but half the price of a Polaroid.

  8. One thing i found interesting – a lot of okd photos that my parents had were damaged but all the Polaroid photos were still intact even after 50-60 years. Don't know how but they just seem more durable

  9. Smart phone pics always die with the phone and are lost forever… this is the main reason Polaroid is back and back big!! Love having physical photos… and will gladly fork out the cash for them

  10. So a 200€ camera and a cost of roughly 1,5 to 2 € each print. For a lousy photo quality and a print life span of an old dog.
I'll stick with my Canon Selphy wireless Printer. 120€ and 0.25€ for each print. Top quality, 100 years print life and printing directly from my smartphone.
This is not the 70's anymore

  11. Love Polaroid, but the film packs are too expensive and the quality of the photos in my experience aren't currently upto scratch compared to Instax, which are also cheaper!
