Polaroid Ghostwriter

Polaroid

In this episode, we take a look back at the Polaroid Ghostwriter case. In 1993, an episode of Sightings showcased a Los Angeles home where the two residents claimed they were communicating with a ghost…through Polaroid instant photos. To many, this case remains unexplained – but that’s not entirely accurate! We’ll dive into the story, the Sightings episode, resurrect a “lost” explanation, and re-create the photos ourselves. Let’s take a closer look at the Ghostwriter Polaroids.

  1. Its irrelevant how they did it. The point is that under certain circumstances (whatever they were) it could be recreated by cleaver humans. I think there is something going on with the paranormal but actual evidence is far, few and very poorly controlled. All I ever see is frauds making fools of themselves.

  2. This has absolutely shattered me. This was one case I remember and of every other thing I’ve ever seen. I believe this was the most convincing. Wow I’m shattered. Everything I knew or thought I knew was BS.

  3. I loved that show. I remember these guys. Once i saw it i was trying to figure out how they did it. I came up with them pre setting the photos in a dark room and reloading the cassette to work in the Polaroid camera.

  4. I love two kinds of creators, those with a gazillion subscribers & those with a few. Why? Once you get that high, you follow the common tropes of "is this inflammatory/exciting(no proof)/promoting". But 90% of actual analysis is from the lil-guys. Special note little-people is a taken term, but I refer to all sexes/identity.

  5. Sightings: "These are the pictures that have astonished researchers and left photographic experts baffled."
Me, not a photographic expert: "Double exposure and a filter."

Fantastic video. Very thorough work. I kind of wonder if the first 'ghost' photo was an accident since it was easy to mess up polaroids back in the day. In fact, I have a photo with a ghostly thumb print to prove it.

  6. Sightings also did the Heartland Ghost which was the begining of the Sallie House bullshit. It is so obviously faked. There is a video of all the episodes about the Sallie house on youtube you should do a debunk watch video about it.

  7. This was a great video, I liked the details that went into the debunking this blatant fakery! I will say that you haven't "proved" that he hoaxed it by replicating the results, but I agree 100% with your conclusion from all the Circumstantial data points like that guy working in a photoshop…wow! They "left that out" how convenient! I like how you noted that these Polaroid experiments need to be controlled, leaving all those tampering possibilities available. Again, Well done!

I just started my @HobbyParanormal channel last year. I am a retired engineer with 30+ years experience in Firmware with degrees in Computer Science and Electronics. I gravitate to channels like yours because I like the honesty and integrity about the subject of the Paranormal, and I like how methodical and thorough you are to details. While I've had true experiences that lead me to believe there is more to the reality, but I know how rare they are and they are hard to capture.

My first shocking encounter was the 90's sitting in a well-lit restaurant late at night having a coffee with a friend and this shadow person, long lanky arms and legs with a bowler hat, was on the wall as a projection, and "walks" or floats past our table 4 feet away from us, and zips around the corner into the kitchen. I didn't have access to the cellphones like we have today, but it happened so fast that I wouldn't be prepared anyway.

So here's the deal with myself and the purpose of the channel: I am working on some special tech to assist Ghost Hunters, and I have found an Honest Ghost Hunter that will field test my gear. I will state up-front, in full disclosure, that my intentions are to make a product for profit, but only if it works. There's too many fake or ineffective devices that makes me sick! I want to make an honest buck. So I'm presently making something fairly unique, and I'm not recycling the tired-old EMF meters and such, the K2 and REM pods are jokes to me. I'm really interested in delivering a detector that senses E-Fields in the environment, directionally, and at a distance around 2 Meters (if possible, range is hard to achieve) it will block man-made E-field sources 60 Hz freq. I'm using a Twin-T 60 Hz notch filter and it measures the electric potential in a room. That said, I know we'll have to be careful because humans can cause flux in the E-field… so TBD how to eliminate that.

Also, the fact that any instrument we make is not conclusive proof of a Ghost, we have to be careful not to allow our imaginations run wild to assume that it does, but it doesn't exclude that possibility either. I want to get more data on investigations so perhaps one day we can really make something that has a higher degree of confidence of fewer false-positives.

I am skeptical of the claims, but not about the paranormal itself. I'm not into the debunking like you are, but I can see how this can be designed up-front to be more careful. It might not be perfect, but I think we can do better!

I've got a few questions to ask, if you have time to answer, I'm curious to know:

Q1: What is your take on the prevalence of the faking of Paranormal events, I think it might be 80% or higher maybe 99% ?
Q2: Have you come across in your years of researching the claims of the paranormal where you actually found a compelling case for it?
Q3: In my quest to develop an honest piece of tech, that I know can be tricked, how would you advise me to remove such possibilities? (e.g., a protocol I can instruct someone using such a device)
Q4: Do you have ideas or concepts of your own that someone with an engineering background could help develop?

    Thanks so much.

  8. Social media could use more from you because pseudo-archaeology and pseudo-medicine are going around like crazy, too. I would love to see more content from you in general though. Thank you for doing all of this!

  9. Wish I could remember where, but I once saw a video with a person explaining how to do this just by pressing on the back of the film, with something like a pen cap, writing backwards. The indentation from the back would then interrupt the chemicals spreading as the film develops.

I am pretty sure the original "ghost" pic was just bleed from pressing the chemical pack at the bottom of the film. Used to do that when I was a kid because it was fun to see what shapes it would make as it spreads upward. They probably saw the same thing and started experimenting with it which is why the pics get progressively better over time.

  10. Segs Food Channel just ended and here I am!!! I survived another Seg live!!!
I need this to clear away the Seg smell😊
    Thanks Kenny!!!
    It's as if you knew!!😊
